MoS₂ Filled PTFE

Peflon MoS₂ PTFE is a composite material made by adding molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) as a filler to polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Molybdenum disulfide is an important solid lubricant in industry and is known as the “King of Advanced Solid Lubricants”.

Peflon MoS₂ Filled PTFE can be divided into different categories based on the percentage of molybdenum disulfide filled to meet specific performance needs.

  • 5% Glass Filled PTFE: This material provides a degree of wear resistance while maintaining PTFE’s inherent flexibility and low friction characteristics.
  • 10% Glass Filled PTFE: This ratio further increases wear resistance and mechanical strength for higher load applications.
  • 20% Glass Filled PTFE: Significantly improves the wear resistance and hardness of the material and is typically used in industrial applications where very high wear resistance is required.

Key Features of MoS₂ Filled PTFE

Peflon Molybdenum disulfide PTFE (MoS₂ Filled PTFE) is a composite material enhanced by adding MoS₂ to PTFE. Key properties include:

  • Low coefficient of friction: Molybdenum disulfide is an effective solid lubricant, and its addition significantly reduces the coefficient of friction of PTFE, making it ideal for sliding and rolling applications.
  • Enhanced wear resistance: MoS₂ filling improves the wear resistance of PTFE, making it suitable for use in high-wear environments and extending the material’s life.
  • Improved Mechanical Strength: Molybdenum disulfide fillings improve the mechanical strength of the material compared to pure PTFE, making it more durable in high-load applications.
  • Creep resistance: The addition of molybdenum disulfide slightly improves PTFE’s creep resistance, making it more dimensionally stable under long-term loading.
  • Good thermal stability: Molybdenum disulfide materials remain stable at elevated temperatures and can be used over a wide range of temperatures.
