What is a Teflon O-Ring
A Teflon O-ring is produced by molding, CNC machining, encapsulation, coating or extrusion. A PTFE O-ring can work continuously from +327°C down to −268°C and is chemically resistant and non-compressible. Some applications need a modified PTFE material to improve mechanical strength, stability and wear resistance, so Peflon also uses filled PTFE grades such as glass fiber, carbon, graphite, molybdenum disulfide and bronze to meet any custom request. The base resin, PTFE (CAS 9002-84-0), is a fluoropolymer commercialized by upstream producers such as Daikin.

Teflon O-Ring FAQ
What temperature range can a Teflon O-ring handle?
A virgin PTFE O-ring works continuously from −268°C up to +327°C, which is well beyond the range of most conventional elastomer O-rings. FEP- or PFA-encapsulated types are limited by their fluoropolymer jacket rating.
How do I select the right Teflon O-ring size?
Size to the AS568 (SAE / JIS B 2401), ISO 3601 or JIS B 2401 standard for off-the-shelf dimensions. For non-standard grooves, send us a drawing, sample or the cross-section and inner diameter and we will build it to your specification.
What is the difference between a solid PTFE O-ring and an encapsulated O-ring?
A solid PTFE O-ring is fully inert but has limited elastic recovery. An FEP- or PFA-encapsulated O-ring wraps a silicone or FKM elastomer core in a seamless fluoropolymer jacket, adding the spring-back of rubber while keeping a chemically resistant PTFE-family sealing surface.

Yes. We offer food-grade PTFE O-rings formulated to meet FDA 21 CFR 177.1550, USDA and 3-A dairy requirements for food, dairy and pharmaceutical contact.
