What are PTFE Coated Mandrels?
Peflon PTFE coated mandrels are cylindrical cores — metal or other substrate — with a PTFE layer applied by spray or dip coating to enhance the mandrel's release, chemical and thermal performance.
A mandrel is a cylindrical tool used to shape, support or reinforce materials during the production of medical tubing, cable insulation, molded rubber components and other precision parts. The base coating resin, PTFE (CAS 9002-84-0), belongs to the fluoropolymer family commercialized by upstream producers such as Daikin.

What substrates can Peflon apply the PTFE coating to?

Can you coat tapered or multi-step mandrel profiles?
Yes. We routinely coat straight cylindrical, custom-tapered and multiple-step transition mandrels, including complex grind configurations, applying an even PTFE layer across the full profile.
What is the difference between spray and dip PTFE coating for mandrels?
Spray coating gives precise, thin and even layers well suited to complex profiles and tight tolerances, while dip coating is efficient for uniform straight cores. We recommend the method based on your geometry, thickness and volume.
Are the coatings suitable for medical tubing production?
Yes. PTFE offers a clean, non-adhesive, biocompatible release surface used in catheter and medical-tube forming. For food-contact and medical applications we can supply grades formulated to meet FDA 21 CFR 177.1550.
