The PFA Resin Behind Every Film
PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) is a fully fluorinated, melt-processable fluoropolymer registered under CAS Number 26655-00-5. Its high-purity backbone gives Teflon PFA film outstanding chemical inertness, low extractables and continuous-service stability, which is why it is specified for semiconductor, laboratory and food-contact applications.
Base PFA resin is produced by fluoropolymer leaders such as Daikin, and the polymer's chemical identity is catalogued by CAS Common Chemistry and PubChem. Perfluoropolymer resins for repeated food-contact use are addressed under FDA 21 CFR 177.1550. What temperature can Teflon PFA film withstand?
PFA film performs reliably across a wide range, from roughly -200 °C up to a continuous service temperature of 260 °C. The actual limit depends on duration, load and the surrounding media, so we rate each film to your specific process.
Can Teflon PFA film be used as a 3D printer release film?
Yes. Its transparency, low surface adhesion and heat stability make PFA film an excellent release film for resin and LCD 3D printers, as well as for LED covers and other transparent, non-stick applications. We can supply the thickness best suited to your printer.
How is PFA film different from FEP or PTFE film?
All three are fluoropolymer films with excellent chemical resistance and non-stick surfaces. PFA offers the highest continuous-service temperature and purity of the melt-processable grades, FEP is a lower-cost transparent alternative, and PTFE is skived rather than melt-cast.
