What is PTFE CNC Machining?
Peflon PTFE is a versatile and highly desirable material in precision manufacturing. As a premium type of fluoropolymer, it has unique properties that make it ideal for CNC machining in various aspects, including engineered performance that combines chemical resistance, thermal stability, and electrical insulation, and precision fabrication applied in medical, aerospace, and industrial industries. The base resin, PTFE (CAS 9002-84-0), belongs to the fluoropolymer family commercialized by upstream producers such as Daikin.
Chemical Resistance
Machined PTFE parts are inert to nearly all acids, bases, and solvents, making them ideal for aggressive fluid-handling environments.
Thermal Stability
A continuous service range from -200°C to +260°C lets finished components perform in both cryogenic and high-heat applications.
Electrical Insulation
Excellent dielectric strength and low loss make CNC-machined PTFE a trusted choice for insulators and electrical components.
Low Friction & Non-Stick
One of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid keeps bearings, bushings, and seals running smoothly with minimal wear.
Precision PTFE Parts We Machine
From rod, sheet, tube, and molded billet, Peflon turns, mills, and drills a full range of standard and custom PTFE components.

Bushings & Bearings
Low-friction, self-lubricating PTFE bushings and bearing pads machined to tight running clearances for rotating and sliding assemblies.

Seals & Packing
Precision-turned PTFE seals, rings, and packing that maintain a leak-tight fit across wide temperature and chemical ranges.

Valve Seats & Plugs
Machined valve seats, plugs, and balls that deliver chemically inert, tight-shutoff performance for control and check valves.

Gaskets
Flat and profiled PTFE gaskets cut and machined to your flange dimensions for corrosion-resistant sealing.

Washers & Spacers
Dimensionally stable PTFE washers, spacers, and insulating bushes produced to close thickness tolerances.

Pump & Insulator Components
Custom pump internals, liners, and electrical insulators machined from virgin and filled PTFE stock.
Machining Tolerances & Capabilities
Because PTFE is soft and has a high thermal-expansion coefficient, achievable tolerances differ from metal machining. We control cutting parameters, tooling, and stress relief to hold the following typical values. Parts that must meet food-contact rules are machined from grades formulated to FDA 21 CFR 177.1550.
| Parameter | Standard | Precision (on request) |
|---|---|---|
| General dimensional tolerance | ±0.1 mm | ±0.05 mm |
| Turned diameter | ±0.05 mm | ±0.02 mm |
| Flatness | 0.1 mm / 100 mm | 0.05 mm / 100 mm |
| Surface finish (Ra) | 1.6 µm | 0.8 µm |
| Max turned diameter | Ø500 mm | — |
| Min wall thickness | 0.5 mm | 0.3 mm |
PTFE & Filled-PTFE Materials We Machine
We machine virgin and filled PTFE stock in rod, sheet, and tube, selecting the grade that best matches your load, wear, and temperature requirements.

Virgin PTFE
Unfilled PTFE for maximum chemical resistance, purity, and dielectric performance in seals, insulators, and lab components.

Glass-Filled PTFE
Glass fibre reinforcement improves compressive strength and wear resistance for bushings and bearing pads under load.

Carbon / Graphite-Filled PTFE
Carbon and graphite fillers boost thermal conductivity and wear life for dynamic seals and piston rings.

Bronze & Modified PTFE
Bronze-filled and modified PTFE grades add dimensional stability and load capacity for demanding mechanical parts.
Why Choose Peflon for PTFE CNC Machining
How We Produce Your PTFE Parts
- We start from your drawing or sample, select the right virgin or filled PTFE stock, and confirm tolerances before cutting.
- CNC turning, milling, and drilling are combined with controlled stress relief so soft PTFE holds its final dimensions.
- Every batch passes dimensional and visual inspection before packing and shipment.

FAQ of PTFE CNC Machining
What tolerances can you hold on machined PTFE parts?
Our standard machining tolerance is ±0.1 mm, with precision tolerances down to ±0.05 mm on turned diameters available on request. Because PTFE is soft and expands with temperature, we advise on realistic tolerances for each feature during quoting.
Which PTFE grades can you machine?
We machine virgin PTFE as well as glass-, carbon-, graphite-, and bronze-filled and modified PTFE. The right grade depends on your load, wear, temperature, and purity requirements, and our engineers can recommend one for your application.
Can you machine parts from our drawings or samples?
Yes. We provide full OEM/ODM service and work from your 2D/3D drawings (STEP, IGES, DWG, PDF) or a physical sample, confirming all critical dimensions before production.
Do you handle both prototypes and volume production?
We support the full range from single prototypes and small batches through to high-volume manufacturing, using the same quality controls at every scale.
Are your machined PTFE parts FDA compliant?
For food-contact and medical applications we machine from grades formulated to meet FDA 21 CFR 177.1550, and we can supply the relevant material documentation with your order.
