What is Skived PTFE
Peflon Skived PTFE is a thin, flexible form of polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE, the technical name for Teflon. It is created by a special “skiving” process, where a sharp blade shaves a very thin, continuous layer from a larger block of PTFE. This method results in a smooth, uniform sheet or film with a low coefficient of friction. Because of its excellent properties—including chemical resistance, high temperature stability, and superior electrical insulation—skived PTFE is widely used in applications like non-stick linings, electrical wiring, and gaskets. It is especially valued for projects that need a high-performance, thin material.
PTFE (CAS RN 9002-84-0) is a fully fluorinated polymer whose base resin is produced by fluoropolymer leaders such as Daikin. Its chemical identity is catalogued by CAS Common Chemistry, and its thermophysical data are documented in the NIST Chemistry WebBook, confirming the roughly 260 °C continuous-service ceiling that makes skived PTFE dependable in demanding environments.

Skived vs. molded PTFE refers to the production method. Skived PTFE is made by cutting a thin layer from a larger billet, which results in a very smooth and uniform surface. Molded PTFE is shaped in a mold, often resulting in a product with a less uniform surface finish.
Can I get skived PTFE with an adhesive backing?
